The Whitten-Newman Foundation and the National Geographic Society funded the research. After Sereno and colleagues finish a more detailed study of the fossil, it will be returned to a museum in Inner Mongolia, the place where the fossil was illicitly excavated. Trex decking costs between 15 and 30 per square foot for materials, including the Trex decking itself, as well as the substructure, railing, stairs, hardware and fasteners. Henry Kriegstein, a private fossil collector, brought the nearly complete Raptorex skeleton to Sereno’s attention after buying it from a vendor. While the Tyrannosaurus Rex may not be the largest dinosaur, there’s still no doubt that it’s a humongous reptile. “We have no evidence that it was a competitive takeover,” adds Sereno, ”because we have never found large tyrannosaurs and allosaurs together.” Fossil evidence shows that Tyrannosaurus was about 40 feet (12 meters) long and about 15 to 20 feet (4.6 to 6meters) tall. However, the Spinosaurus was a much sturdier dinosaur. Discover why this ancient predator is known as the king of the dinosaurs. But in Africa, the allosaurs never went extinct, as they did in North America, possibly presenting an evolutionary opportunity for Raptorex. To many people’s surprise, the T-Rex gets defeated by the Spinosaurus in terms of size because the T-Rex measured 15,000 lbs in weight, was 12-20 feet tall, and was approximately 40 feet in length. The entire body, including the head, neck, and tail, contributed to this impressive size. “On other continents like Africa, you have as many as three large predators living in the same areas that split among them the job of eating meat,” he says. In terms of overall height, T.rex stood approximately 15 to 20 feet tall at the hip. Sereno marvels at the scalability of the tyrannosaur body type, which when sized up 90 million years ago completely dominated the predatory eco-niche in both Asia and North America until the great extinction 65 million years ago at the end of the Cretaceous Period. To put that in context, it's five times greater than the canine bite of a saltwater crocodile (the strongest caniniform bite force for a crocodile today). All that Raptorex left for its descendants is “a suite of detailed features largely related to getting bigger.” rex had up to 60 conical, serrated teeth, each about the size of a banana, and could bite with a force of up to 57,000 N (12,814 lb/f) the strongest land-animal bite ever. “It’s really stolen from tyrannosaurids all the fire of the group,” Sereno says. rex-indicating a highly developed sense of smell. The Raptorex brain cast also displayed enlarged olfactory bulbs-as in T.
